What is attitude? It is defined as ‘a settled way of thinking or feeling about something’ it is also ‘a position of the body indicating a particular mental state’, it is the character you exhibit that is influenced by your state of mind. All definition state that your attitude is determined by your mental state and your mind. So if you are displeased with the way things are going in your life or you don’t like a particular situation, then you can do something about it, you can change your mind about it, which in turn changes your attitude about it and then your response to the situations.
There are some people who have a nasty attitude, they believe that life made them that way or people made them that way, but the truth is that their mind is what has influenced their attitude. So what then, you have to work on developing your mind and getting it in the right frame.
Your mindset is the state of your mind based on your values, perceptions, awareness, orientation, beliefs, thoughts, way of thinking, perspectives etc, and this is what influences your attitude faster than anything else you can imagine.
The world is a mirror and you receive what you are giving out. The good news is that you can change things by changing your mindset. For example, do you believe that nothing good ever happens to you? Or that people are generally nasty to you? Or do you believe that people are helpful and nice to you? There are various people with various thoughts going through their minds and as you meditate on these awful thoughts thoroughly, they begin to change who you are and eventually change your attitude.
Instead, why don’t you decide to chose happy, wonderful thoughts and meditate on them and when you do this, the world will look a better place for you and even if horrible things happen, they might affect your environment, but they will not alter your outlook and who you are. It doesn’t matter what you go through, you will keep a positive response and attitude, and you will be a much happier person.
